

David Wells Player - Graduating Class of 1986
Introduction:
David Wells is the name most prominent in the record books for CFHS soccer. For his career David holds 8 single season records and 5 career records in scoring and he accomplished all this in only three years. Most impressively, David scored in 48 of 58 games in his career as a Black Tiger. David was also fortunate to be surrounded by an outstanding supporting cast as his team reached the State Regional Final before losing to eventual state champion North Olmstead 2-1. No other team in school history has accomplished so much.
CFHS Awards/Accomplishments:
Sophomore: First team All Metro, First team Greater Akron Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association, Honorable Mention All Ohio
Junior: First team All Metro, Beacon Journal All District Team, First Team Greater Akron Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association, and Honorable Mention All Ohio
Senior: First Team All Metro, Selected to G.A.S.S.C.A Senior All Star Game, First team Beacon Journal All District team, First team G.A.S.S.C.A, First team All Ohio, First team All Midwest, and First team NSCAA All American.
He left CFHS as the career leader in points (221), goals (89) and assists (43).
Post CFHS:
Yet David wasn’t done playing as he went on to play for The University of Akron for the next four years. As a freshman he earned a starting position and played in every single game. During that season the Zips went on to play in the Division I National Championship. In the regional final against Penn State David scored the only goal in regulation play and also scored the deciding penalty kick in the shootout to send the Zips onto the semifinal game against Fresno State. David was selected as team captain his junior and senior years. For his career as a Zip, David went on to play in 87 games and ranks in the top 20 for career scorers with 25 goals and 18 assists.
Conclusion:
David currently lives in Silver Lake with his wife Jennifer and two daughters Samantha and Rachel.
