Jon Wnorowski Coach/Ambassador - Coached from 1975 to1985
Jon served as the Black Tiger’s head soccer coach from 1975 to 1985. During his time leading the CFHS program, his passion for soccer extended throughout the Cuyahoga Falls Community. That passion was not only felt by the young men on his team but has been felt across many decades since as Coach Wnorowski founded the Cuyahoga Falls Youth Soccer Club which has served generations of Cuyahoga Falls soccer players and continues to serve as the foundation of the soccer in our community today.
Jon’s passion extended beyond Cuyahoga Falls as he went on to be instrumental in the founding of the Greater Akron Amateur Soccer Association which has served tens of thousands of amateur athletes for over forty years.
Jon was also the co-founder: of the Greater Akron Referees' Association and the Greater Akron Scholastic Coaches' Association.
In addition to helping to create these organizations, in the decades thereafter, Jon served in various officer-roles, and he went on to become the Director of Coaching for Ohio Youth Soccer North.
In 2008, Jon was inducted into the Ohio Youth Soccer Hall of Fame.
In addition to being a legend in the Cuyahoga Falls soccer community, Jon spent 30 years as a teacher, principal, and then as the Director of Pupil Services for the Cuyahoga Falls City School District before he retired in 2000.
Prior to passing away in 2019, Jon was married to 50 years to his wife Carolyn, and he was the father to three daughters.
Two his daughters – Jennifer Welden and Patti Lammert are here on hand to accept the CFASA HoF plaque on behalf of Coach Wnorowski.
On behalf of Jon’s family, they would like to thank all of the coaches and players who played for and worked with their dad over the years. Getting a successful soccer program up and running for northeast Ohio was something Jon was very passionate about and by keeping the soccer program going, his legacy remains alive and for that they offer their sincere thanks.
