Patrick Beattie Player - Graduating Class of 2000
Pat enters the Hall of Fame tonight as arguably one of the most naturally gifted players in the history of Cuyahoga Falls soccer. As a 4-year varsity starter for the Black Tigers, Pat helped lead his teammates during a period of great success for Cuyahoga Falls soccer with teams rising to previously unachieved heights of the state high school soccer rankings during each of his years at CFHS. During Pat’s tenure, he ended his high school career as the #2 record holder for assists with 31, he also earned 3 time All-District honors and 3-Time All-League honors in addition to his 4 varsity letters earned during his CFHS career.
Pat’s high school coach Todd Hartong described Pat simply as an amazing player, He remarked, “I’ve never coached a player that could dominate the midfield like him. We used to play a game in training that dealt with moving the ball across the field and he would always win. No matter what team I put Pat on, he would win that exercise to the point where I renamed the activity “Beattie’s Box” in his honor. And to this day when I use it in a training session I envision Pat’s uncanny ability to find small spaces, to hold the ball in traffic, and to turn and find the opposite side of the field. If I were to define Pat’s greatest strength on the field, I’d say it is his unparalleled ability to do the little things. He was a pleasure to coach and a joy to watch.”
Pat continued his career as a student athlete as a 4-year starter at the University of Akron. During his time with the Zips he became #4 record holder for games played, he was a member of 3 Mid American Conference championship teams, he also earned honors on 2 All-MAC Tournament Teams, and was a member of the 2003 team which made it to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen.
Pat now works in Hudson and lives in West Akron with his wife, Abby, and his son Jack.
